Luxury Bathrooms on a budget
With the average UK bathroom being only 2.4 m x 1.8 m it is important that you make the best use of the space and good planning is essential so that every centimeter of space is utilised in the best way possible. As well as being a great functional space it is also important that your bathroom is also a beautiful space; one in which you can refresh, unwind and pamper yourself.
You don't need to spend a fortune to achieve this. A luxury feel is possible with some skillful design and sourcing. Mix lower cost materials with more expensive ones. It does require some investment in time and this is where an interior designer can save you money; mixing materials, providing you with a bespoke design and sourcing the right fixtures & finishes at a much lower cost. Enabling you; to get on with the important business of enjoying your spare time doing the things you love.
Add a touch of luxury by tiling the shower area with marble mosaic tiles and then the rest of the bathroom in a more modest metro style tile. The floor area is usually a smaller area for tiling so choose a complimentary tile with a more luxury finish.
If you love the look of marble but not the price tag then take a look at the porcelain marble-look range there are some super ones available now This way you will achieve that luxury finish without completely blowing your budget on the tiling. The two below are both around £39.95 psm which is half the price of natural marble tiles.
Decide on the look you want to achieve whether traditional or contemporary and then shop around for each of your fittings. It is not essential to buy the toilet, bath and sink from the same brand as long as they are in line with your overall design theme. Traditional does not need to look old fashioned either. Installing a free standing bath with contemporary lines will bring a contemporary feel to a traditional bathroom. Like this Vienna free standing slipper bath. A large wash stand can bring a feeling of grandeur and space to the room. A frame-less shower enclosure will also add to the feeling of space and gives a more luxury feel
If your bathroom is small then keep the storage off the floor and fit wall mounted shelves or cabinets. Fix a towel rack just above head hieght over your radiator to keep towels dry & warm
A large mirror will add a bit of glamour and also help make a small space appear larger. Your mirror does not have to be labeled 'bathroom mirror' but make sure it is suitable for a bathroom as some mirrors have felt backing that will not cope with condensation. Shop around for your fittings and keep them in line with your overall design theme.
